18 APRIA Platform;

Within the complex and multi-layered context of an art academy, it can be easy to lose sight of each other’s research. With different disciplines, many faculties, and a large variety of minds bustling about at an art academy, it almost becomes a separate task to situate oneself in the broader discourse, as much as it sometimes is difficult to open up to unexpected perspectives. But it is precisely the intersections of knowledge, skills, speculation, and critique that make art such a meaningfully complex research practice that challenges the scripts of the status quo.

This is one of the main reasons ArtEZ recently launched APRIA, an open-access online platform for researchers, students, and artists to explore further the engagement of the arts to science and society. With this wide focus, APRIA is invested in this co-creation of collective knowledge by actively situating artistic research practices in an undisciplined dialogue that is critical and urgent to the futures that we will live in. APRIA presents peer-reviewed papers, essays, podcasts, and keynote lectures regularly. It builds a research community that consists of diverse voices from multiple identities, perspectives, approaches, cultures, and experiences.
